New song: “A Fresh Start” Ignition Lab week #32

The Ignition Lab is a group songwriting challenge to write a song a week  in 2013, using weekly word prompts as a starting point. Follow our work on Facebook: facebook.com/TheIgnitionLab

I can’t believe that my last post was on August 31st. I’ve been writing my songs and posting them on YouTube but while that’s been challenging to time-manage, I also couldn’t fit in blogging about each one. So I’m just gonna post them without the “making of” bits for now.

Except for this one. I just want to say how much I enjoyed writing this song, and how much I enjoy performing it. It’s amazingly positive with a reminder about letting go and starting over. Check it out, A Fresh Start with the lyrics below:

A Fresh Start

You look so tired my dear
Why don’t you rest up right here
You can lighten your load
And finally let go

It’s safe to walk away
And just call it a day

Drop the weight of the world from your shoulders
Move along ’cause those chapters are over
You’ve said your piece and played your part
And tomorrow is a fresh start

When your past knocks on your door
Say it’s not welcome anymore
When you think of what you could’ve done
Remember life has just begun

It’s all a lesson learned
Sometimes you come out with a burn

Drop the weight of the world from your shoulders
Move along ’cause those chapters are over
You’ve said your piece and played your part
And tomorrow is a fresh start
